T: Lake Eacham Natl Park, Atherton Tableland, Qld, 17°17’S, 145°37’E, alt. 780 m, on bark in rainforest, 18 Mar. 2005, A.Mangold 29at; holo: CANB; iso: F.

Thallus endophloeodal to epiphloeodal, to c. 150 µm thick, pale greenish grey to pale yellowish green, ±glossy, smooth, ±verrucose, rarely continuous, ±rimose. True cortex continuous, to c. 20 µm thick, formed by periclinal hyphae, sometimes replaced by a ±continuous protocortex. Algal layer well developed, continuous; calcium oxalate crystals abundant near ascomata, small and clustered. Isidia cylindrical to somewhat irregular, mostly unbranched, to 1 mm long, concolorous with the thallus or slightly paler. Ascomata inconspicuous, to c. 0.7 mm diam., ±rounded, apothecioid, solitary to marginally fused, slightly to moderately emergent, verrucose-hemispherical. Disc with the columella visible in older ascomata, entire, free, distinctly pruinose, whitish. Proper exciple not visible from above; thalline rim margin to 0.2 mm diam., ±rounded, entire, moderately thick, sometimes depressed, concolorous with the thallus to pale brownish; thalline rim incurved. Proper exciple fused, moderately thin, yellowish brown to orange internally to brownish marginally, sometimes dark brown apically, ±amyloid at the base. Hymenium to c. 90 µm thick, not inspersed, moderately conglutinated; paraphyses bent, ±interwoven, unbranched, with slightly thickened tips; columellar structures poorly developed, to 100 µm wide, entire, usually overlaying the hymenium, brownish, non-carbonised, covered by greyish or brownish granules. Epihymenium hyaline, with greyish granules. Asci 8-spored; tholus thick. Ascospores transversely septate, oblong to ellipsoidal or slightly clavate, with ±rounded, narrowly rounded or subacute ends, hyaline, weakly amyloid, 10–20 × 4–6 µm, with 4–6 locules; locules ±rounded to slightly angular, ±lentiform, with hemispherical end cells; septa moderately thick, regular; ascospore wall thin, non-halonate; endospore thick. Pycnidia not seen.
CHEMISTRY: Thallus K+ yellowish, C–, P+ yellow; containing psoromic acid (major), 2’-O-demethylpsoromic acid (minor to trace), subpsoromic acid (trace).

An endemic, corticolous species in rainforest in north-eastern Qld; occurs at altitudes of 100–780 m.
